It all started over 30 years ago when Cydney Weingart designed the pamphlet “Breastfeeding For all the Right Reasons” for a local WIC clinic. What has evolved is Noodle Soup, a health education company supporting family service agencies across the country in their mission to help American families be healthy. Of course, since breastfeeding is in our DNA, low-literacy breastfeeding education and promotion is still the cornerstone of the business. But never one to rest on her laurels, Cydney has expanded the topics to include nutrition, childhood development and parenting.
In addition to traditional health education formats like pamphlets, fliers, and tear pads, we produce children’s books that promote reading aloud and bonding while teaching the whole family healthy habits. It is an innovative way to help parents and children learn together. Books on food, nutrition, social-emotional health, early learning concepts, and family dynamics convey health messages in a fun, engaging way. Developmental toys, infant wear, basic health and wellness products, and feeding items round out the product line and give customers a one-stop shop for family engagement, outreach, and education.
Noodle Soup is proud to serve agencies like public health departments, social service agencies, school districts, and hospitals, and programs like WIC, head start, and home visiting. We share in their mission and Cydney runs the company with one goal in mind, to help families. The staff has heard more than once “if it helps one mom, it is worth it.”
Cydney earned a BFA degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She went on to work at ad agencies and art studios until she launched her own firm, Weingart Design in the late ’80s. Her love of graphics and education slowly merged into a body of Noodle Soup materials, with a particular emphasis on easy-to-read breastfeeding and parenting promotion. Nearly 30 years later, her company had become nationally recognized for these colorful and appealing public health materials as well as low cost product giveaways. Always an avid reader, Cydney has also been a reading coach and tutored a variety of students, from children to adults.
